Have you ever noticed that the sounds you hear when underwater are strange? Also, you can’t tell what direction sound is coming from, or how far away it is. Do you know the reason for this? When your underwater the sound wave move through water and vibrate the skull bones instead of the ossicles bones. This is because you are mostly made of water. So, when underwater the sound waves cannot differentiate between the water and your flesh. So sound waves keep going until it hit the thick skull bones. Due to this you can’t figure out the direction sounds are coming from.
