Do you know how tempered glass is made?

When buying a new phone the first thing most of you would do is apply a tempered glass. In order to protect the phone tempered glass is applied. Do you know how tempered glass is made? First the glass is cut into the desired size. The sharp edges of the glass are removed by a sandpaper. Then the glass is heated at a temperature over 600C. After the heating the glass is rapidly cooled. During this process, the glass is blasted with high-pressure air. So, the outer surface cools far more quickly than the center. Due to the temperature difference the center of the glass tries to expand while the corners tries to compress. This tension results in giving the tempered glass additional strength.
