Science for Policy: Innovation-Driven Medical Research

Science for policy is defined as the development of policy advice based on research. It is a field that is constantly changing and essential to the knowledge economy. Knowledge generation, acceleration, and innovation all play major roles in economic development, as shown in both developed and developing nations. In this context, a major contributor is research is the global medical sector, which can improve economies, particularly by bridging the global South and North for multilateral gains. To harness these economic benefits, wise policy implications at the intersection of science and policy are vital.

Studies have demonstrated that global multicenter medical research inequity benefits partner countries – the developing nations – in terms of long-term economic gain. This may be due to a lack of evidence to support sound science policy implications there.

The aim of this Special Issue is to address the gap in medical research and translate from laboratory to business through innovation. We welcome original research and review articles, particularly those focusing on medical research through innovation-driven science for policy.
