Diseases transmitted to humans via human animal interactions are called Zoonotic diseases. COVID-19 is the latest zoonotic disease that is transmitted from animals to humans. This article discusses the history and impact of how wildlife trade has contributed to increased human animal interactions, causing disease transmission, and the way forward in the wildlife trade with the lessons learnt from the current COVID-19 pandemic.
