If you are a fan of the Sherlock Holmes TV series you would surely remember the scene where he fakes his death by cutting off the pulse using a squash ball. This trick is also used by some magicians to fake their pulse. But how can a squash ball cut off the pulse? From your heart blood is carried to your arms legs and other places through blood vessels. As you remember from our previous fact pulse is a rhythmic push of blood in blood vessels. When you keep a squash ball in your armpit and press it against your body the blood vessel that carries blood to your arm is squeezed. So, it slows the blood flow in your arm making it look like your pulse has stopped.
