Did you know a lobster’s blood is colorless but it turns blue when exposed to oxygen? The bluish tint of a lobster’s blood is due to the presence of copper found in the blue hemocyanin molecule in their blood. Air contains oxygen that reacts with the copper present in the blood. Oxygenation causes a color change from the colorless Cu(I) to blue Cu(II).
