Do you know how night vision googles work ?

In games and movies, you may have seen soldiers wearing a night vision google at night. When wearing night vision goggles, the whole surrounding would look green and even on a moonless night you would be able to see the surrounding. Explain how night vision googles work.
When you wear night vision goggles the light travels through the goggles. Light is made from light particles named photons. These photons hit a light sensitive surface named photocathode. Photocathode turns the photons into electrons. Then these electrons are amplified. These amplified electrons hit a phosphor screen where the electrons are converted back into photons. As there more photons than originally entered the goggles the images look brighter than normal.
