Almost all of you may have witnessed the dazzling dance done by a peacock. When a peacock flaps its wings, you see its wings as blueish green color. But did you know that the color of the pigment in the peacock wings is brown in color? If so, how do we perceive the color of the peacock’s feathers as blueish green color? It all lies in the nanostructure of the peacock’s feather. If we magnify a peacock feather, we can see nano size holes which repeat as a pattern. This nano scale pattern reflect light. This reflection of light in different wavelength makes us see the peacock feather as blueish green color.
