These days porcupine is a famous word you hear. Even though only some of you have encountered a porcupine most must have seen a picture of the porcupine. The specialty of a porcupine is their quills. There are about 30,000 quills on a grown porcupine. Normally when an animal walks around covered in sharp objects it is bound to stick itself once in a while. So, to counteract this the quills of the North American porcupine have antibiotic properties. The quills of these porcupines are coated with a type of fatty acids which gives the quills antibiotic properties. Therefore, when a porcupine is stung by its own quill, the wound will not get infected even though it hurts.
