Have you noticed the color of the giraffe’s tongue?

Some of you may have seen a giraffe at a zoo or in a safari. Have you noticed the color of the giraffe’s tongue? The color of a giraffe’s tongue is blackish-purple. Have you wondered why giraffe’s tongue is purple in color? Giraffes are mainly found in the savannahs in Africa. The climate in these region is very hot and the sun shines intensely. Therefore to avoid sunburn, melanin is included in the tongue of the giraffe. The melanin pigment is responsible for making the tongue blackish-purple.
